Things simply haven’t gone as planned for Texas A&M this season.
The Aggies started the year ranked 6th in the country but have already suffered losses to Appalachian State and Mississippi State.
Things won’t get any easier for A&M this Saturday, as the Aggies head to Tuscaloosa to face top-ranked Alabama.
That’s a daunting task under the best of circumstances but one made even more daunting with a quarterback situation that’s up in the air.
During his media availability Monday, Jimbo Fisher said that starting quarterback Max Johnson is currently dealing with a hand issue.
“We’ll go day-to-day,” Fisher said when asked about Johnson’s status. “He banged his hand. We’ll go day-to-day… We’ll get Haynes (King) and Conner (Weigman) ready to play if Max can’t go.”

And don’t expect any definitive word from Fisher before Saturday about who will start.
Said Fisher: “What do you want me to do? Call Nick (Saban) and tell him?”

Of course, Texas A&M did beat Alabama a year ago, and the Crimson Tide have their own concerns at quarterback after Bryce Young’s shoulder injury at Arkansas.
Still, Alabama is currently a 24-point favorite in a game that will be played at 8 p.m. (ET) on Saturday night and televised by CBS.
