Jimbo Fisher has been quick to praise one of his true freshman this offseason.
Ahead of Texas A&M’s season opener against New Mexico, Fisher once again had high praise for linebacker Taurean York.
York was a 3-star coming out of high school according to 247Sports composite and has flown under the radar, but Fisher has assured fans that he is bound to make an impact for the Aggies this season.
He also believes, despite being a freshmen, York is one of the most mature players on the team.
“It’s amazing. Playing linebacker is like playing quarterback,” Fisher said in his press conference Monday. “You’re making front calls, you’re making checks and to be the vocal guy. I’ve had freshmen backers come in and be the other guy while someone else is making all the calls. York is able to make checks. I like to say he’s 18 going on 25. I say that from a maturity standpoint. How he learns and what he does and handles things very well. Sometimes guys can handle that, and he’s done it. He’s had an outstanding camp in that regard and it’s very refreshing.”
