Jimbo Fisher saw Texas A&M’s tailspin continue on Saturday, this time as Florida topped the Aggies 41-24 in College Station to end a 3-game losing streak in the series.

A number of Aggies players were affected by a flu outbreak during the week. That said, they did take a 24-17 lead into the locker room before the Gators outscored them 21-0 in the 2nd half to hand A&M a 5th straight loss. It’s Texas A&M’s first 5-game losing streak since 1980.

The Aggies had previously lost in consecutive outings to Mississippi State, Alabama, South Carolina, and Ole Miss. With their latest defeat, they’re now 3-6 (1-5 SEC), and with games against Auburn, UMass, and LSU coming up, they need to run the table to even make a bowl. Texas A&M was ranked top 10 in the preseason.

Even if the Aggies do win out, that won’t do much to tamp down the criticism surrounding Fisher despite pulling in the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class in the 2022 cycle. His $95 million contract is fully guaranteed through 2031 and he’ll be owed $86 million if the university were to fire him after this season. After Saturday, his record at A&M is 37-20 overall, 22-17 in the SEC. The return on investment the university has received during his tenure hasn’t even been close to acceptable.

As expected, A&M’s latest loss meant Fisher drew plenty of reaction throughout social media.
