Former LSU QB Joe Burrow just signed a contract worth $36.19 million (with a $23.9 million signing bonus) as the No. 1 overall pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL Draft.

However, don’t expect him to be making any splashy purchases with that money. It’s going straight into savings.

During a chat with reporters this week, Burrow explained that he’s going to live off his marketing deals and save all his contract money (via The Score):

“I don’t plan on spending any contract money,” Burrow said. “I’m just gonna live off the marketing money and let that accrue in my bank account.”

Other athletes have employed a similar financial strategy, but not all of them have the massive signing bonus Burrow has.

He’ll also have plenty of marketing deals, so there’s sure to be plenty of money for Burrow to live very comfortably during his NFL career and beyond.
