Heading into the Auburn-LSU game, Jarrett Stidham was the household name while Joe Burrow was being called “Danny Etling in a new number” by one of the men calling the nationally televised event.

So much for that lazy take.

Finally given an opportunity to show what he can do in a do-or-die situation with the world watching, Burrow drove LSU down the field twice in two possessions, once for a touchdown and once more for the game-winning field goal on the road at Auburn to beat the Tigers 22-21 on Saturday.

Immediately after the game, Burrow was asked about his performance against one of the nation’s top defenses.

“It felt amazing. We struggled in the first half a little bit, but that was on me,” Burrow said. “I got going in the second half. My line kept me clean all game, I was able to stand back there and find my guys and we gutted this one out.”

As for his comment on LSU’s the final drive:

“We work it every week. Two-minute drill, twice a week, that’s just practice,” Burrow stated. “Trust in my guys, trust in me, trust in our coaching staff.”

Finally, now that he’s competed on the road in the SEC and on the road in the Big Ten (where he was formerly a quarterback for Ohio State), Burrow said there was no comparison between playing at Penn State and at Auburn.

“This one trumps Penn State. It was a lot louder, I could barely hear myself think out there,” he continued. “I tried to stay calm and all my guys helped me through that.”
