Former LSU star Joe Burrow appeared to suffer a serious injury on Sunday in the Cincinnati Bengals game with the Washington Football Team.
Burrow was in immediate pain to his left leg, and was carted off the field. It happened early in the third quarter with the Bengals holding a 9-7 lead, and with the ball at the 9-yard line on third down. His long pass fell incomplete.
Burrow did not put any weight on his left leg as he was helped onto a cart and and driven off the field after the play. Washington’s Jonathan Allen hit Burrow after he let go of a pass early in the third quarter.
Burrow had completed 22 of 34 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown before the injury.
Pending further tests, it appears the Burrow’s season could be in jeopardy based on his facial expression leaving the field.
Entering Sunday, Burrow ranked second in the NFL with 370 pass attempts and third with 242 completions. He has five 300-yard passing games, tied for second most among rookies in NFL history
