FOX Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt released his top 5 teams heading into the 2022-23 season on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.
The SEC overwhelmed Klatt’s top 5. Below are his selections among the SEC:
- No. 1 – Alabama
- No. 3 – Georgia
- No. 4 – Texas A&M
The Crimson Tide outlasting the Aggies and Bulldogs is justified. Georgia, despite winning its first national championship since 1980 last season, lost a great portion of its defense to the NFL Draft in April. The Bulldogs also boast the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation for 2022 and return some offensive production, minus George Pickens and James Cook.
The No. 1 and 2 recruiting classes also reside on Klatt’s list, though. Alabama comes in just behind a historic class from Texas A&M. The Aggies signed 8 5-stars, including 4 within the top-15.
The Crimson Tide, as always, had a strong recruiting year as well and return 2021-22 Heisman winner Bryce Young to an already talented roster.
Rounding out Klatt’s top 5 list were Ohio State at No. 2 and Notre Dame at No. 5. Utah, Michigan, Michigan State and Clemson just missed the cut:
