Joel Klatt updated his top teams heading out of Week 2 following some Saturday action that held far more shake-up than anyone could have previously anticipated.
There were some changes between what Klatt had at the top spot, which was a three-way tie this time around. That was between Georgia, Ohio State and Texas. Behind them, in order, were Ole Miss, Miami, Tennessee, USC, Alabama, Penn State and Utah. The list of outsiders who just barely did not make the cut included teams like Mizzou, Michigan and Oregon.
This isn’t necessarily surprising given the way that Texas absolutely dominated Michigan in what, in theory, should have been a much closer game between two ranked teams. Instead, it was all Texas for the entirety of the time as the Longhorns got the 31-12 victory.

It will be interesting to watch how these continue to evolve as the season progresses with some of these teams moving into more difficult competition.
