John Calipari clowned as Arkansas falls to horrific 0-5 start in SEC play
John Calipari is not having the first season he imagined at Arkansas.
On Saturday, Calipari’s squad dropped another SEC game to fall to 0-5 in conference play. The Razorbacks’ latest loss was an 83-65 defeat at the hands of Mizzou. This is the Razorbacks’ worst start in conference play since being in the Southwest Conference, which the team left in 1991.
This is also the first time Calipari has started 0-5 in conference play since the 1988-89 season at UMass, which was his first season as a D1 head coach.
Naturally, social media users are clowning Calipari for his horrific start in Fayetteville. Check out some of the best reactions below.
The Razorbacks also struggled to begin SEC play last season, with the team starting 0-3 in conference play. The Razorbacks went 3-7 in their first 10 conference games last season, but even that team didn’t go 0-5.
On Saturday, the Razorbacks were totally outplayed by the Tigers. The team shot just 21.7% from 3 and committed 13 turnovers. The Razorbacks also managed to make just half of their free throw attempts while sending the Tigers to the line 19 times.
Adou Thiero and Zvonimir Ivisic were the only Razorbacks to score in double-digits. Ivisic led the way with 14 points and also added 10 rebounds and 2 blocks. Thiero had 12 points with 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 blocks.
The next test for the Razorbacks will be a home matchup against No. 23 Georgia.
