John Parker Wilson issues statement after being named Alabama’s new color commentator
John Parker Wilson is returning to Tuscaloosa.
The former standout Alabama quarterback has officially been named as the new color commentator for the Crimson Tide Sports Network replacing Phil Savage who left the role this offseason. Wilson will now join Eli Gold and new sideline reporter Rashad Johnson each and every Saturday in the fall to bring radio viewers their coverage of Alabama football.
Upon the news, Jim Carabin the vice president & general manager of Crimson Tide Sports Marketing issued the following statement on the hires:
“We are excited to add John Parker Wilson and Rashad Johnson to our broadcast team, which allows us to promote Chris Stewart to broadcast host. The addition of Wilson and Johnson will bring a lot of energy to the broadcast, while their knowledge of the game, and Alabama football in particular, will provide great insight for our listeners.”
Following the news, Wilson issued his own comment via his Twitter account:
Honored and excited to officially be back with The Tide. This is a dream come true after growing up listening to Eli and Kenny every Saturday in the fall. #rolltide https://t.co/sUeacvYLOR
