Offensive lineman John Theus did not participate in Georgia’s two-hour practice on Wednesday.

Instead he spent the afternoon riding an exercise bike with strength and conditioning coaches Joe Tereshinski and John Thomas.

“He sprained his ankle,” head coach Mark Richt told the media Wednesday. “We expect him to practice on Monday.”

Theus played will in his first start at left tackle on Saturday for an offense that rolled up 469 yards of offense. The off week should buy him plenty of time to heal before next Saturday’s conference-opener against South Carolina in Columbia.

Georgia has depth on the offensive front, but lacks game experience at certain positions. Mark Beard was behind Theus on the two-deep for Clemson. He has appeared in 26 career games.
