Former Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel has reportedly been indicted by a Dallas County grand jury on a misdemeanor assault with bodily injury charge.

CBS Dallas/Fort Worth reports that the grand jury will formally announce a decision to move forward with the charges on Monday, according to its sources.

According to ESPN, the misdemeanor assault case “carries a maximum punishment of one year in jail and a $4,000 fine.”

The grand jury evaluated evidence for the case on Thursday to determine whether charges were necessary.

These charges are stemming from a January incident involving his ex-girlfiend, the fallout of which would result in some horrible accusations from Colleen Crowley.

According to the CBS report, Manziel is already restricted from seeing Crowley as a result of the altercation:

A judge granted Crowley a protective order after January’s multi-city altercation. Manziel has to stay away from Crowley until at least Feb. 3, 2018, including at least 500 feet away from her Fort Worth apartment, according to the order. He also has to pay $12,500 in attorney’s fees and can’t possess a firearm while the order is in effect.

This incident looms large over an off-season that has watched Manziel’s football career spiral out of control.

The Cleveland Browns recently released their former 2013 first-round pick after just two seasons, and Manziel has been dumped by two NFL agents, including Drew Rosenhaus most recently.

There have been reports of former Aggies LB Von Miller trying to help Manziel back on his feet, but the former Heisman Trophy winner has found himself in headlines in recent weeks for his potential involvement in the damage of a rental house.
