Johnny Walker Jr. and Brady Cook are used to roaming the same sideline as leaders for Mizzou. Now, they may need to become accustomed to facing off with one another, which they did during the East-West Shrine Bowl.

At one point in the game, it was Walker getting the better of his former quarterback with a strip-sack of Cook. It came near the end of the first half with Cook trying to engineer a 2-minute drill with his offense.

Walker beat the left tackle with a quick speed rush around the outside and was able to grab Cook’s throwing arm from the backside. While the offense was able to recover the ball, it was still a brilliant move by Walker with his speed on full display.

The smile on Walker’s face after the sack says it all as a fun moment between former teammates.

Walker also added another sack, though not of Cook, during an impressive Shrine Bowl performance. It should boost his early draft stock as we gear up for the NFL Combine and team pro days down the road.

Both players were instrumental in compiling back-to-back seasons of 10+ wins for Mizzou. Walker compiled 14.5 sacks (including a team-high 9.5 this season) to go with 23 TFL across 2023-24 with the Tigers going 21-5 in that time frame.
