Jon Sumrall has Tulane at 3-2 after a 45-10 win over South Florida on Saturday.

Sumrall took the reins in the offseason from Willie Fritz, who took the job at Houston after leading the Green Wave to a first-ever New Year’s 6 appearance in 2022 and back-to-back appearances in the American Athletic Conference’s championship game.

Now, after a run as Kentucky’s co-defensive coordinator pair of double-digit win seasons at Troy in his first head coaching gig, Sumrall will look to have similar success in his initial season at Tulane and help it maintain the heights it enjoyed under Fritz. A massive win over USF to open conference play, which saw the Green Wave open up a 31-7 halftime lead, is a good first step.

Sumrall also had a perfect response to a pregame trolling attempt by a USF fan, as you can see below:

Certainly a pair of Ws for Sumrall, on and off the field.

Now the Green Wave are 1-0 on the young AAC season. Next up: at trip to UAB for Week 6.
