The redshirt junior from Navarre, Florida, is coming off his most productive season in Morgantown, registering 31 tackles, including a team-high 9.5 tackles-for-loss, and 3 sacks in 2022. Jefferson also had a team-high 5 pass deflections and was an honorable mention selection to the All-Big 12 Conference team.
Jefferson finished his 4-year West Virginia career with 54 tackles, 14.5 tackles-for-loss, 3.5 sacks and 7 pass deflections.
He will join an LSU defensive line in 2023 that made life miserable for SEC quarterbacks in 2022, helping the Tigers stun most observers and finish 1st in the SEC West. LSU ultimately fell short of an SEC championship, falling to top-ranked Georgia in the title game on Dec. 3, but Kelly put his stamp on the program in his 1st year, and now he’ll be adding a talent like Jefferson to that defensive line that was already stacked this season.
Jefferson is a menacing 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds, and he’ll undoubtedly be a force next fall in the SEC.
Jefferson started all 12 games at nose tackle for the Moutaineers in 2022.
