Ole Miss looks a lot different on both sides of the ball heading into the 2022 season, and a lot of that has to do with players who departed for the 2022 NFL Draft and the amount of success Lane Kiffin had in the transfer portal this offseason.

One of those acquisitions is former Louisville WR Jordan Watkins, who previously faced Ole Miss before becoming a member of the Rebels himself.

Within what’s become a deep group of wide receivers, Watkins faces stiff competition, though he’s projected to be a starter in 2022. But his versatility is something he uses to his advantage and is an element he believes will help him in the long-term in Oxford.

“Coming out of high school I kind of think of myself as a Swiss Army Knife a little bit,” Watkins told On3 Sports. “Kind of somebody who can do everything. Play outside, play slot. I’ve been kind of everywhere (at practice) a little bit. I think that’s what sets me a part from other people is I can just play anywhere you need me to. If you need me to go to the backfield I’ll go play running back. If you need me to go play tight end I’ll go play tight end.”

The fact Ole Miss has utilized him in different ways at practice is a good indicator that there could be more of the same in real game action. Watkins finished out the 2021 season with 35 receptions for 529 yards with 4 touchdowns at Louisville.
