Josh Heupel and Tennessee will aim to get back in the winning column this weekend after a 34-20 loss at Alabama.
Tennessee will take on host Kentucky in an SEC East clash between a pair of programs with 2-2 marks in the conference.
Heupel is optimistic that Tennessee can respond admirably after being blanked in the second half against the Crimson Tide.
Following the lone other loss of the season against Florida, Tennessee defeated UTSA 45-14 the following week. Last season, Tennessee followed up their lone losses against Georgia and South Carolina with massive routs over Missouri (66-24) and Vanderbilt (56-0). Tennessee hasn’t dropped back-to-back games since October 2021 vs. Ole Miss and Alabama.
“The lessons always got to move forward with you as a program, as players and coaches, you’ve got to continue to improve and put yourself as players and coaches in the best situation to continue to get better over the course of the season,” Heupel said. “… I just think for us as a staff, I think consistency is really important. The things that you say matter when you’re winning and they’re the same… As a competitor man, you’ve got move on…There’s a lot of football left for us.”
Tennessee at Kentucky is slated for a 7 p.m. EST kickoff and will be televised on ESPN.
