There was little about Cedric Tillman’s on-field performance during his first 3 seasons at Tennessee that would have created much excitement heading into 2021.

But that’s not the case with the Volunteers season opener against Bowling Green set for Thursday night, as big things are expected from the redshirt junior wide receiver this fall by his coaches and teammates.

On Wednesday, new Vols coach Josh Heupel, speaking with reporters on the weekly SEC coaches teleconference, talked about what he’s seen from Tillman since taking the job and why he expects plenty of production from the 6-3, 215-pounder this season.

“Consistency and who he is inside the building. … He has trained himself physically to be a better player,” said Heupel of Tillman “… He has been as consistent as anyone inside our program. … He’s gained as much confidence about his ability as anyone inside our program.”
