It’s going to take more than a shirt to hold Joshua Dobbs back.
Before the Browns took on the Eagles on Sunday, head coach Kevin Stefanski said that neither starter would take snaps. But backup QB and former Tennessee star Joshua Dobbs sure looked like a starter, as he put on a show in Cleveland.
The QB was quick to scramble from the pocket, avoiding defenders while tip-toeing down the sideline, ending just a few yards short of the goal line. Watch the run below as he avoided a sack when defenders grabbed at his jersey.
They tried to take his jersey but @josh_dobbs1 said NOT TODAY.

It comes as no surprise to SEC fans that Dobbs has moves. The now NFL QB was a standout at Tennessee, winning the starting QB job in his sophomore year after starting QB Justin Worley was injured. In his sophomore season alone, Dobbs received two Offensive Player of the Week nods, both of which came from his combined passing and rushing performances for more than 400 yards in each game.
Dobbs was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round (135th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, and he’s also been with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was signed by the Browns as an unrestricted free agent in April.
Dobbs is competing for the third spot on Cleveland’s QB depth chart behind starters Deshaun Watson and Jacoby Brissett. Dobbs is battling with Josh Rosen for playing time, but head coach Kevin Stefanski said that Dobbs will have the edge, considering his experience.
