JUCO transfer Josiah Coatney will make his college selection on Thursday, according to a report from Chris Kirschner.
Considered to be one of the nation’s top defensive line JUCO prospects, Coatney is expected to choose between Ole Miss and Alabama.
He once was reportedly considering Florida and Texas A&M, but the decision is believed to be down to the Rebels and Crimson Tide after visiting all four schools in April.
The Holmes Community College product is originally from Douglasville, Ga. and has three years of eligibility remaining. He could play as soon as this fall.
According to SEC Country, he does not lack for confidence in himself no matter which school he picks.
“I feel like any school I choose, I can play immediately,” Coatney said. “The depth chart really doesn’t matter to me because the best players are going to play. My goal is to be the best player, so I’m not worried about the depth at any school.”
He points to the coaching staff and environment as strong points for Ole Miss’ consideration, while also pointing out the tradition and winning ways of Alabama.
At 6-foot-5 and 285-pounds, he certainly has the size to step in and contribute right away, but that’s easier said than done at both of these schools.
