Kaiir Elam was a first-round pick out of Florida, going No. 23 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft to the Buffalo Bills.

In the 3 years since, Elam has been up-and-down for his team, recording 2 interceptions, 6 pass breakups, 81 tackles and 1 fumble recovery. He never quite lived up to his Round 1 pedigree in Buffalo, and now it seems he’s getting a change of scenery.

Per NFL.com insider Tom Pelissero, the Dallas Cowboys are acquiring Elam in a trade with Buffalo. Here’s the official NFL account breaking the news on social media:

What sort of compensation the Bills are getting in return for Elam remains to be seen, but it figures to be a lower-round pick. Will the change of scenery help Elam find his groove at the pro level? Only time will tell, but he’ll have ample opportunities to work his way into the secondary mix in Dallas.

Elam became a star at Florida over his 3-year career. He recorded 79 total tackles, 6 interceptions, 20 pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
