Kalen DeBoer criticized on social media after Alabama’s blowout loss at Oklahoma

Kalen DeBoer had the unenviable job of trying to replace a legend. No one has ever had to replace a 7-time national champion before in college football.
While the Alabama Crimson Tide are having a fine season, it’s not living up to the standards of fans in Tuscaloosa. And Saturday’s atrocious showing in a 24-3 loss at unranked Oklahoma is only going to intensify the criticism he’s facing.
Social media lit up with criticism of the first-year Alabama coach on Saturday night after the Tide’s Playoff hopes were all but extinguished at the hands of an Oklahoma team having a disappointing season of its own.
Here’s a look at some of the criticism DeBoer is taking on social media in the wake of Saturday night’s loss:
where is DeBoer coaching next year after Alabama fires him?

Alabama as 14+ point favorites…
+ Under Kalen DeBoer: 2 losses in 8 games
+ Under Nick Saban: 3 losses in 139 games pic.twitter.com/fDLJZKJmac— Evan Abrams (@EvanHAbrams) November 24, 2024
It’s Kirby and Sark’s league now, DeBoer ain’t the guy. Bama will go 9-3 consistently every year he’s there.#BAMAvsOU

How many seasons does Kalen DeBoer last at Bama? Most of their fanbase already seems to hate him. You can’t lose 3 games a year at Bama with that talent. And I don’t wanna hear about their tough schedule when they’re losing to teams like Vandy and Oklahoma

DeBoer was always a bad hire

Feel bad for Kalen DeBoer. Will take at least one more jump up the coaching ladder for him to get to a program that can actually recruit well enough to compete along the lines against an SEC power like Oklahoma. pic.twitter.com/ZNrxN0fMhi

Kalen Deboer is a great coach, but he doesn’t fit in at Bama, imo.

Would Alabama really fire DeBoer after 1 season? Almost certainly the answer is no. But Year 2 will be a big one for DeBoer and his staff.
Can he right the ship and get the Tide back to the Playoff where many fans think they belong on a yearly basis?
The Tide take on rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl next weekend. We’ll see what happens in that game and what happens in the updated College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday night.
