Kalen DeBoer earned his first win as Alabama’s head coach a couple of weeks ago, and now he has a new memento to mark the accomplishment.
On Tuesday, Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne presented DeBoer with a commemorative game ball to recognize DeBoer’s first win with the program. In a social media message, Byrne told DeBoer he’s looking forward to presenting him another game ball after his 100th win with the program.
Here’s a photo of Byrne, DeBoer and his latest office memento:

If DeBoer does get to 100 victories at Alabama at some point, history says that will take close to a decade — at a minimum — to accomplish. Nick Saban didn’t win his 100th game with the Crimson Tide until midway through his 9th season at the helm.
DeBoer’s challenge will arguably be even harder because of the additions of Texas and Oklahoma into the SEC. Alabama could face a more difficult schedule on average each year without the SEC’s old divisional structure as well.
In the long history of Alabama football coaches, there have only been 3 to clear the 100-win threshold: Saban, Bear Bryant and Frank Thomas.
DeBoer also earned his first road win of his Alabama tenure this past weekend at Wisconsin. Alabama is off in Week 4, but DeBoer will have an opportunity to earn his first ranked victory of his Alabama tenure in Week 5 against Georgia.
