Kalen DeBoer reveals aspect of Alabama’s performance he doesn’t ‘take lightly’
Kalen DeBoer is taking over for a legend at Alabama, maybe even the best coach that college football has ever seen. So he’s not leaving any stone unturned, with all eyes on DeBoer watching to see how the former Washington coach handles the bright lights of the SEC.
After 1 Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium, DeBoer saw a lot of things in the 5th-ranked Crimson Tide’s 63-0 whitewash of Western Kentucky. But there was 1 thing that might’ve stood out among it all, and that was the way Alabama dominated the Hilltoppers on the ground.
The Tide piled up 334 yards rushing, averaging a robust 7.1 yards per carry while scoring 6 of their 9 touchdowns via the run.
Kalen DeBoer on Alabama's run game: "Running for 300 yards is something I don't take lightly. The tailbacks and both quarterbacks did a nice job. There's a lot of threats."

“Running for 300 yards is something I don’t take lightly,” said DeBoer on Monday. “The tailbacks and both quarterbacks did a nice job. There’s a lot of threats.”
Sophomore Justice Haynes led the ground tour de force, running for 102 yards on just 4 carries, including an 85-yard touchdown run late in the 2nd quarter.
Meanwhile, quarterback Jalen Milroe was once again a dual threat, running for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns to go with his 3 TD passes.
Junior Jam Miller, freshman Daniel Hill and backup QB Ty Simpson each added 1 touchdown run, and in all 9 different players got on the scoresheet in the running game.
