Kalen DeBoer’s daughter hits first career home run against Alabama

Kalen DeBoer’s daughter, Alexis, was considered one of the top recruits in the country during her high school softball career.

When deciding where she’d be playing collegiately, it wasn’t much of a surprise that Alexis picked Washington, where her dad was the head football coach. And despite her father leaving Seattle to take the top job at Alabama, she opted to remain with the Huskies rather than seek to be released from her NLI and join her family in Tuscaloosa.

That brings us to Saturday’s contest between the Huskies and the Crimson Tide in Tuscon as part of the season-opening Candrea Classic. With runners on second and third with one out in the top of the first, DeBoer stepped up to the plate and stroked one to deep center field to stake the Huskies to a 3-0 lead, her first career home run.

Here’s video of the homer:

What makes this even more ironic is that the Huskies’ schedule came out in December, nearly a month before Kalen DeBoer was named head coach at Alabama following the retirement of Nick Saban.

Sometimes, the scripts write themselves.

As for Alexis DeBoer and the Huskies, they spilt a doubleheader on Friday to open their season, losing to the No. 11 Tide 5-1 before bouncing back for a 6-2 win over the tournament hosts, No. 16 Arizona. Washington, in their first year in the Big Ten, is coming off a 32-15 campaign and a NCAA Regionals appearance in 2024.
