Kansas State celebrates with ‘edible mascot’ after winning Pop-Tarts Bowl
Kansas State earned a victory in the Pop-Tarts Bowl over the NC State Wolfpack. The Wildcats escaped with a 28-19 win, their 2nd bowl win in the last 3 years.
After the game, the team was able to celebrate with the only “edible mascot” of bowl season. The edible mascot was a big selling point for this game, and many fans were wondering how it would be pulled off.

A giant toaster was wheeled onto the field, and a giant, lifesized Pop-Tart was ejected for Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson and head coach Chris Klieman. The duo got to take the first bite in a truly unique celebration.
Since 2020, the bowl game has been sponsored by Kellanova via their Cheez-It and Pop-Tarts brands. Last year’s version of the game saw a shootout between Florida State and Oklahoma. In this year’s game, Avery Johnson came away as the MVP.
Johnson threw for 178 yards and 2 passing TDs. The QB also rushed for 71 yards and added a TD on the ground. Overall, the Wildcats outgained the Wolfpack by 36 yards and had 0 turnovers. The Wolfpack have now lost 4 cconsecutive bowl games.
