Keenan Pili is heading to Knoxville. The former BYU linebacker and team captain announced his commitment to Tennessee Wednesday on Twitter.
Pili, a Provo, Utah, native, had a solid season with Cougars, picking up 29 tackles and 1 sack. Now, Pili will look to help the Vols defense, which struggled greatly despite Tennessee’s success this season.
Pili came into college as a 3-star player, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. His proven leadership landed him as a captain for BYU and he’ll look to bring that same leadership ability to Knoxville.
The Vols are coming off one of their best seasons in recent history with an electric offense led by Hendon Hooker. Tennessee will take on Clemson in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30 with a chance to secure its first 11-win season in over two decades.
The missing piece for Tennessee this season was a solid defense, and Pili could be a huge resource next season for the Vols.
