Kentucky defensive tackle Ja’Quize Cross announced on Friday afternoon that he is transferring.
The 6-foot-3, 310-pound lineman posted his decision on Twitter.
“All of the people I have met (at Kentucky) will forever be my family,” Cross said. “It saddens me to say I will be transferring from the University of Kentucky. Please keep me and my family in your prayers as I take in this new journey in life.”
Cross, who was a 3-star prospect in the class of 2016, was pulled out of the state of Alabama (Buckhorn High School, New Market) by the Wildcats. In high school, Cross had other Power Five offers from Minnesota and Purdue.
He committed to the ‘Cats in June of 2015 and spent two seasons with the team.
It is unclear at this time why Cross plans to transfer out of the program.
