Kentucky football has officially named its 2022 captains with the start of the season just around the corner. Those players include quarterback Will Levis, linebackers DeAndre Square, Jacquez Jones, JJ Weaver, Jordan Wright, running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. and offensive lineman Kenneth Horsey.
Several of these players were major standouts last season and are only expected to continue to be a force both on and off of the football field.
Levis is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft after he finished out last season with a 66% completion rate, 2,826 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions to go with 849 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns.
Levis told me how much being at Kentucky meant to him and how he had embraced the opportunity when I spoke with him earlier this offseason.
“At the end of the day, I did want to be more of a traditional quarterback,” he said. “That’s what I was looking for and I knew I had the tools to do it pretty well, too. To have the opportunity and to have the faith in me to play that role for Kentucky was awesome.”
