Kentucky learns bowl assignment, opponent for 2022 postseason

Kentucky now knows where it is headed for the postseason.
The Wildcats will face Iowa in the Music City Bowl as they head to their seventh consecutive bowl game. And this is an opponent they are familiar with in a rare bowl game rematch.
It marks the first time in school history that Kentucky will play the same bowl opponent in back-to-back seasons. The Wildcats took down the Hawkeyes, 20-17 in the Citrus Bowl last season as they recorded their second 10-win season in four years.
Things obviously look a bit different this year as Kentucky finished the season with a 7-5 overall record after being projected to be among the best teams in the nation, falling short of the high expectations to repeat last year’s level of success.
Here’s a look at how things have shaken out for the team in past Music City Bowl appearances:
1999: L, Syracuse 20-13
2006: W, Clemson 28-20
2007: W, Florida State 35-28
2009: L, Clemson 21-13
2017: L, Northwestern 24-23
