Jacob Tamme may not be a dynamic, every-down tight end at the NFL level, but he has made a few huge catches in tandem with star quarterback Peyton Manning during his career. Tamme and Manning have been teammates since their days with the Indianapolis Colts, and they’ve developed quite the rapport over the years, now both suiting up for the Denver Broncos.
The former Kentucky tight end added another clutch play to his career resumé Sunday with a 26-yard touchdown reception from Manning to tie Denver’s Super Bowl rematch with Seattle at 20-apiece. Seattle won the game in overtime, but Tamme’s catch capped a furious Broncos comeback against a tough Seattle defense.
Here’s what a few other Wildcats did around the NFL last weekend:
- Randall Cobb: Cobb had a relatively quiet afternoon for the Green Bay Packers, catching just three passes for 29 yards in a 19-7 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon.
- Winston Guy: Winston Guy recorded three tackles and a pass defended from his safety position for the Jacksonville Jaguars in a humbling 44-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
- Stevie Johnson: The former Cats’ wideout had his best game since arriving in San Francisco, catching nine passes for 103 yards in the 49ers 23-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
- Tim Masthay: The Green Bay Packers punter was busy on Sunday, booting five punts with an average of 43 yards per punt. He landed two inside the Lions’ 20 yard line and still has not recorded a touchback in 2014.
- Corey Peters: Peters made four tackles for the Atlanta Falcons in a 56-14 rout of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football last week.
- Larry Warford: Warford started at right guard for the Detroit Lions in a 19-7 win over Green Bay.
- Avery Williamson: Kentucky’s only draftee from the 2014 NFL Draft made his first career tackle for the Tennessee Titans in a 33-7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Williamson ended the game with four tackles and a stuff at the line of scrimmage.
- Wesley Woodyard: Woodyard, the Titans’ team captain, led the defense with nine tackles in the loss to Dallas. He now has 19 tackles in three games this season.
