Kentucky OL coach reveals starting RT for Saturday’s season opener

One of the main position battles for Kentucky has reached its conclusion, as offensive line coach Zach Yenser announced that senior Jeremy Flax will get the start at right tackle. Flax started at the position in 12 out of 13 games for the Wildcats last season.

He narrowly beat out USC transfer Courtland Ford, who spent 3 seasons with the Trojans and started in 11 games. Ford will see playing time and may be who the coaches want to start in the long-term, but he was a left tackle at USC and will need time to make the transition to playing on the right side.

Whoever is the starter at right tackle will be tasked with protecting NC State transfer quarterback Devin Leary, who has been labeled as a high-tier NFL prospect if he can stay healthy.

Kentucky will open its season against Ball State on Saturday, Sept. 2 at noon ET.
