Redshirt sophomore Drew Barker and JUCO transfer Stephen Johnson II are in the middle of a postition battle for the starting quarterback job at Kentucky, and on Saturday, the two might have had the best performances of the spring practice session to date.
With a new offensive coordinator in Eddie Gran and quarterbacks coach in Darin Hinshaw, the Wildcats are hoping one of the two can emerge as a rising star so that the team can compete for bowl eligibility as a member of the SEC East.
As of right now, it looks like Barker — who made five appearances for Kentucky as a freshman in 2015 — has the leg up on the competition, but it’s a close call.

Eddie Gran appears to be as advertised. All over some dudes in an early drill. Intense dude.

Both QBs have impressed at times. Barker looks like the starter but easy to see why Johnson could compete for job.
