SEC Nation, the SEC Network’s traveling Saturday pregame show, had originally planned on visiting Kentucky’s campus in Lexington on Oct. 4 for the Wildcats’ showdown with No. 13 South Carolina. However, those plans have now changed.
According to UK Athletics Media Relations, the SEC Network’s conference-specific version of College GameDay will now visit Starkville, Mississippi on Oct. 4, home of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Mississippi State will host No. 6 Texas A&M that day for one of three potential SEC matchups featuring two ranked teams (the others are Alabama-Ole Miss and Auburn-LSU). The Kentucky-South Carolina contest will keep it’s 7:30 PM ET time slot and will still be televised on the SEC Network.
The Wildcats will still get a chance to host SEC Nation, but they’ll have to wait three more weeks to do so. The pregame show will finally visit Lexington on Oct. 25 when Kentucky hosts Mississippi State for their annual cross-division rivalry. Hosts Joe Tessitore, Tim Tebow, Marcus Spears and Paul Finebaum will be set up in the Purple Lot outside of Commonwealth Stadium at the intersection of College Way and Alumni Drive.
The SEC Network plans for SEC Nation to visit all 14 SEC campuses for a game during the 14-week regular season, so every school should have an opportunity to host the pregame show for a week if all goes according to plan. The show visited South Carolina on the opening Thursday of the season and Auburn on the opening Saturday two days later. The crew took a trip to Vanderbilt in Week 2, followed by a trip to Gainesville, Florida in Week 3 for the Gators’ epic showdown with Kentucky. Last week, SEC Nation visited Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the matchup between Alabama and Florida.
