Kentucky has poached offensive coordinator Eddie Gran from Cincinnati.

UK is expected to announce Gran as soon as tomorrow according to multiple reports, although Rivals.com first reported the news.

The Wildcats needed to replace Shannon Dawson, who spent just one season in Lexington.

Gran runs an up-tempo, pass-heavy offense, which suggests that Stoops doesn’t intend to break far from the Air Raid attacks utilized by previous coordinators Dawson and Neal Brown. The new UK coordinator also is a respected recruiter with ties in south Florida, seemingly a must in the SEC in 2016.

A long-time Tommy Tuberville assistant, Gran followed Tuberville from Miami (1990-91) to Ole Miss (1995-98) and Auburn (1999-2008).

Other stops for Gran include Florida State, where he spent three years coaching running backs and special teams. His time at FSU coincided with coach Mark Stoops’ tenure as defensive coordinator for the Seminoles.

Coach Mark Stoops needed to make a big hire. Gran represents his third coordinator on that side of the ball in three years. The team also lost quarterbacks Patrick Towles and Reese Phillips to transfers.
