Kevis Thomas, who spent his last 2 seasons in College Park, Maryland, announced on Saturday that he will play for Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats next season.

Thomas stands at 6-foot, 180 pounds and originally hails from Valdosta, Georgia. He took an official visit to Lexington on Dec. 18 and 19th and was also being pursued by Tulane, South Alabama and UMass.

This past season Thomas started 8 games, totaling 21 tackles with 2 pass deflections. The former 3-star prospect played 289 snaps for the Terrapins in 2024.

Kentucky is doing very well in the transfer portal thus far this offseason after a very disappointing 4-8 season that saw the Wildcats finish 15th in the SEC, only ahead of Mississippi State. So far the Cats have brought in former Incarnate Word (and Texas A&M) QB Zach Calzada, Nebraska RB Dante Dowdell, Alabama WR Kendrick Law, USC edge rusher Sam Greene and many more.

So far, only Avery Stuart has transferred out of Kentucky’s secondary, which was stout last season despite the Wildcats’ struggles overall. Kentucky possessed the No. 3 passing defense in the conference behind only Texas and Tennessee in terms of yards allowed per game.

It’s certainly a better situation for Thomas, who is coming from one of the worst P4 secondaries in the country. Time will tell if he can earn a spot on next year’s depth chart.
