Key stat highlights Jahdae Barron’s versatility ahead of NFL Draft
As NFL teams are preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft, Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron is standing out for his versatility.
According to Pro Football Focus, Barron has more than 500 career snaps from 3 distinct alignments on the field: wide cornerback, slot cornerback and box safety.
PFF analyst Max Chadwick called Barron “the most versatile corner in this year’s draft.”

In addition to his versatility, Barron was also extremely productive in his role. He earned All-America honors as he totaled 67 tackles and an SEC-best 5 interceptions this season. He also registered 11 pass breakups and recovered a fumble. Barron earned a coverage grade of 91.1 from PFF for his efforts in 2024, which led all SEC cornerbacks.
Barron has a chance to make some history next week in Green Bay. If he’s taken on Day 1 of the draft, he’ll be the first defensive back to be a Texas first-round draft pick since Kenny Vaccaro accomplished that feat way back in 2013. Before Vaccaro, Earl Thomas was the last Texas defensive back to be taken in Round 1.
Whichever team drafts Barron will end up with a highly-versatile option for their secondary.
The NFL Draft is scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 24.
