Kirby Smart doesn’t believe CFP committee uses eye test in ranking teams

Kirby Smart has been very vocal about his thoughts on the way the College Football Playoff committee is producing its rankings, something that has been a common theme among just about everyone it seems in the latest two releases.
Smart’s Bulldogs were the first team out in the first edition of the rankings and came in at No. 10 overall after a dominant 31-17 win over Texas, which was considered a bit low with the fact Texas came in at No. 6 overall in the first edition.
“I don’t think they value the Big Ten over the SEC,” Smart said. “I think they value wins and losses. And so they place people based on a column. A column of wins and a column of losses. Not the eye test of seeing them and going to watch them play… I don’t think they say, ‘Well, this is better than that.’
“They just say, ‘This record is better than that.’ That’s the most simple way to do it. It’s not necessarily the 12 best. So, we’ll see what happens, I don’t know. I’m not worried about it much. I’ve got to worry about our team and what we’ve got going on.”
The Bulldogs will be able to close the season out on a high note down the remainder of the stretch, greatly favored over the likes of UMass and Georgia Tech, both of which will be home contests.
