Kirby Smart offers blunt response to Jake Pope’s celebration with Rebels fans: ‘What an idiot’

Jake Pope was seen celebrating with Ole Miss fans following Georgia’s loss to Ole Miss on Saturday.
The Georgia defensive back was seen on camera jumping up and down with who has turned out to be a childhood friend with ties to Ole Miss. Head coach Kirby Smart was asked to comment on Pope’s actions Monday and gave a pretty blunt response: “What an idiot. Just stupid… He’s embarrassed about it.”
Smart went on to say he doesn’t have to time to waste any energy on it with a huge matchup agaisnt Tennessee looming. Here’s his full response:

Pope, who transferred from Alabama, has not logged any stats for the Bulldogs this season. The sophomore defensive back is a former 4-star prospect in the Class of 2022.
The Bulldogs are in a precarious spot right now. They can’t afford another loss with the way the SEC is shaping out, and it starts with a matchup against AP No. 6 Tennessee – whose lone loss on the season came at Arkansas by 5 points.
Saturday’s contest is set for 7:30 p.m. on ABC.
