Kirby Smart offers latest status update on Jalen Carter, AD Mitchell ahead of Florida
Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs could be down 2 important players as they take on Florida in Jacksonville on Saturday.
According to the head coach, Jalen Carter and AD Mitchell are questionable for the contest this weekend. Smart stated that “Jalen probably looked better than AD. But I don’t know at this point if either will be able to play. We don’t feel great about them playing.”
DT Jalen Carter (knee) and WR AD Mitchell (ankle) have practiced “sparingly,” Kirby Smart said. “We don’t feel great about,” them playing vs. Florida. Carter seems to have a better chance. ILB Smael Mondon (ankle) is taking all his practice reps.

Both Mitchell and Carter practiced this week, but only “sparingly”. Carter suffered a sprained MCL due to a low block by a Missouri player in Week 5 and has not played since. The 2021 All-SEC team member racked up 31 tackles and 3 sacks in 12 games, and his presence has been missed on the line this season.
Mitchell’s WR services could be a huge boost for Georgia. Mitchell has been dealing with an ankle injury since leaving Week 2’s game against Samford. The sophomore finished last season as the Bulldogs’ third-ranked receiver, grabbing 27 receptions for 376 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Bulldogs take on the Gators at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday in Jacksonville.
