Spencer Rattler has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC over the past 2 seasons, and ahead of Georgia’s matchup with South Carolina, Bulldogs’ head coach Kirby Smart had high praise for him.

Smart touched on Rattler’s ability to throw accurately and avoid getting sacked, which will be important as the Gamecocks take on the Bulldogs’ dominant defense.

“He’s got elite arm talent, I can tell you that,” Smart said in a press conference Monday. “The throws he’s made, touch throws, deep, vertical, back shoulder throws. He had a throw against Clemson on 3rd and 10 that was a rope. So, he’s very illusive, very accurate with the ball, hard to finish on. There’s a lot of people that miss tackles on him when they try to get him down. Tremendous player.”

Going against Rattler and the Gamecocks will be a good test for Georgia’s secondary, which has yet to see the elite offense that South Carolina possesses.

“We’ve got to be prepared,” Smart said. “It’s not just Rattler, it’s the weapons he has around him. They’ve got an elite group of wide outs and tight ends that he can use and he makes a lot of plays and they’ve got a lot of guys that can make a play on the ball down the field. The explosive plays they’ve made in the last 4 to 5 games of theirs is pretty special.”

Georgia and South Carolina kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday.
