From Conroe, Texas, Jonah-Ajonye was the No. 25 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class on the 247Sports Composite. He signed with Georgia over offers from 30 other programs.
Per his Georgia bio, Jonah-Ajonye has played in 4 games this season, making him eligible to take a redshirt for 2024. He is credited with 1 tackle in the Kentucky game and QB pressures against Clemson and Tennessee Tech.
Smart discussed other key injuries during his Tuesday post-practice press conference.
The Georgia head coach said that offensive lineman Tate Ratledge and defensive lineman Jordan Hall are doing more in practice.
“Both have ramped up in terms of reps. Tate took quite a bit yesterday,” Smart told reporters. “We’re trying to be smart in terms of his volume. Jordan has done more. I thought yesterday was Jordan’s best day yet. I think those three days off really helped him.”
Smart said running back Branson Robinson and linebacker Smael Mondon are improving, but it’s not yet clear when they’ll return to action.
“I don’t know a timeline on either one of those guys,” Smart said. “They’re closer because they were closer than they were yesterday. I don’t know what it looks like in terms of when they come back. ”
No. 2 Georgia faces rival Florida on Saturday in Jacksonville. The first availability reports for the game will be released Wednesday.
