The Georgia Bulldogs had a scrimmage on Saturday, and according to coach Kirby Smart, it didn’t go so well.
Smart lamented the fact that the Dawgs didn’t go through spring practices when he spoke to the media following the scrimmage.
Smart said the team was sloppy during the scrimmage, which featured plenty of rotation at quarterback:
Kirby Smart: "We looked like a team that didn’t go through spring practice. …We were sloppy.”

Per Smart, Jamie Newman, JT Daniels, Carson Beck and D’Won Mathis all got reps with the first-team offense:
Smart said all the QBs expect Stetson Bennett got reps with the first unit.

Even though Daniels got reps with the first team, Smart said he isn’t fully cleared as he returns from a knee injury suffered at USC last year:
Kirby Smart said quarterback JT Daniels is still not cleared for contact yet, although he can scrimmage, and did today.

While that’s a positive sign for Daniels that he was able to play, not being cleared for contact might give Newman a slight edge in the quarterback battle. We’ll see how things go as the fall progresses.
