Kirk Herbstreit is among the many who may not have expected the Florida Gators to play as well as they did against LSU.
It was known that LSU has looked a bit shaky lately, but Florida has hardly been competitive for the better part of the season.
Today, the Gators are making a statement that can be described as nothing short of impressive. Herbstreit took to social media to voice his thoughts on Florida’s performance at halftime. He credited Billy Napier, his staff and Florida’s players for putting on a show in the first half:

Florida struck first in the game with a touchdown pass from quarterback DJ Lagway to wide receiver Elijhah Badger to make it 7-0 before LSU responded with a touchdown of its own. It’s clear the return of Lagway, who was recovering from a hamstring injury, has ignited a new kind of spark in Florida.
Florida and LSU were tied 10-10 at the half, but the Gators ended up separating in the second half for a 27-16 victory.
Florida now has 5 wins so far in 2024. The Gators can clinch bowl eligibility with a win in either of its next 2 games against Ole Miss and Florida State.
