The Alabama Crimson Tide won’t have coach Nick Saban on the sidelines on Saturday afternoon when they take on rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

Saban tested positive for COVID-19 this week, and this time, it wasn’t a false positive. That will be a tough loss for the Tide against the Tigers.

But, on SportsCenter on Sunday morning, analyst Kirk Herbstreit explained why he doesn’t think Saban’s absence will be that bad for Alabama:

“I’ll be shocked if they miss a beat of any kind,” he said. “If Nick Saban had missed the whole week, maybe it would be a different story. … I think they’ll just go out as a group, led by Sark, and execute and put the players in position to go out and have a big day.”

That’s a credit to the work Saban does during the week to get his team ready. Saban’s role on game day is much less than it is during the week due to his diligent preparation.

Yes, he’ll be missed, but Herbstreit doesn’t think it’ll stop Alabama from executing its game plan.
