Kirk Herbstreit hints at upset potential for Texas-Vanderbilt matchup in Week 9
Kirk Herbstreit thinks Vanderbilt might not be done pulling off upsets in 2024.
The Commodores have won outright as significant underdogs over the past couple of weeks against Alabama and Kentucky. However, as Herbstreit pointed out, Vanderbilt will have another opportunity in a couple of weeks when it faces Texas in Nashville.
Herbstreit gave Vanderbilt credit for its win vs. Kentucky and also indicated that Texas might be in a tough spot when it travels to face Vandy in Week 9:
How bout it? @VandyFootball follows up historic upset of Bama last week with another massive win over UK in Lexington. Diego Pavia with another stellar performance and the Dores D stepped up again. Vandy now 4-2 and has Ball St next week before hosting Texas the following week in…

As Herbstreit noted, Texas will be coming off of emotional games vs. Oklahoma and Georgia when it takes the trip to Nashville in just a couple of weeks. The Longhorns beat OU 34-3 on Saturday, but they still have a meeting vs. the Bulldogs in Austin on deck this weekend.
Vanderbilt has been one of the best stories in college football so far this season. After dropping 2 games in September, the Commodores have now won back-to-back SEC games for the first time since November of 2022.
Texas does have a tough remaining schedule even beyond Georgia and Vanderbilt. The Longhorns also still have games remaining against Florida, Kentucky and Texas A&M during the month of November.
