Kirk Herbstreit had plenty of SEC love in his top performers of the week for Week 11.

Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers was among the ESPN personality’s top-performing players. In addition, Mississippi State was among his top-performing teams and 2 Ole Miss coaches were among his top-performing coaches for last weekend’s slate of games, as was a Georgia assistant.

Mississippi State experienced the full range of emotions on Saturday against No. 16 Auburn. The Bulldogs fell down 28-3 at one point in the first half but surged back in the second half to win 43-34. Rogers threw for 415 yards and 6 scores in the victory.

As for Ole Miss, defensive coordinator DJ Durkin and head coach Lane Kiffin got specific shoutouts from Herbstreit. The Rebels stone-walled No. 11 Texas A&M in Oxford. The offense ran off nearly 100 plays and Durkin’s defense held A&M to 5.4 yards per play. They also forced a pair of A&M turnovers that lead to 14 points in a 10-point win.

Ole Miss plays Vanderbilt next and Mississippi State hosts Tennessee State. The two meet for the Egg Bowl on Nov. 25.

Herbstreit also named Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning among his top-performing coaches. The Bulldogs once again looked dominant in a 41-17 win over Tennessee. The 17 points surrendered were actually the most anyone has been able to score on the Georgia defense this season, but with Tennessee getting one of its touchdowns in garbage time, it doesn’t seem like Herbstreit is holding it against Lanning. Tennessee ran 84 plays and only averaged 4.6 yards per play.

The top-ranked Bulldogs host Charleston Southern on Saturday.
