Kirk Herbstreit liked what he saw from Kentucky in Week 2. After the Wildcats upset the Gators, UK is on top in Herbstreit’s weekly top-performing teams.
At No. 2 and No. 3, he awarded the Sun Belt duo that pulled off big upsets in Week 2. App State beat Texas A&M, which was No. 6 at the time, and Marshall beat Notre Dame, which was No. 8. The upsets were enough to give the pair the No. 2 and 3 spots.
No. 4 belongs to Washington State, who got a 17-14 win over Wisconsin, which was ranked No. 19 at the time.
At No. 5 is Iowa State, which got a win over rival Iowa in a defense-heavy game.
No. 6 was another upset winner in Georgia Southern, which defeated Nebraska in what would be Scott Frost’s last game as head coach.
Kansas took the final spot after a big win over West Virginia. The Jayhawks are off to a nice start after winning their first two games.
