Kirk Herbstreit is one of the major voices in college football today. The popular ESPN analyst has been a member of the primary broadcast team and College GameDay for a number of years now.

On Saturday, College GameDay was in Ireland for a Week 0 showdown between Georgia Tech and Florida State. The Seminoles hope to compete for a spot in the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff field, especially after being left out of the 4-team Playoff despite an unbeaten record last year.

During Saturday’s show, Herbstreit revealed his picks for the Playoff, and he did include FSU as the No. 10 seed. Here’s a look at Herbie’s full projections:

Herbstreit has the 12-team field ranked as follows:

  1. Georgia
  2. Ohio State
  3. Clemson
  4. Utah
  5. Oregon
  6. Texas
  7. Mizzou
  8. Penn State
  9. Notre Dame
  10. Florida State
  11. Michigan
  12. Boise State

He has Ole Miss and Oklahoma State as the first 2 teams out of the expanded field. For those keeping score at home, that’s 3 SEC teams, 4 B1G teams, 2 ACC teams, 1 Big 12 team, independent Notre Dame and Group of 5 Boise State in the field.

How accurate will Herbie’s projections be? He didn’t have Alabama mentioned at all, which new College GameDay analyst Nick Saban was sure to point out. We’ll see what happens as the 2024 college football season officially begins.
