Week 7 is shaping up to be a big one for several SEC teams. No. 1 Alabama travels to play No. 9 Tennessee and No. 12 Ole Miss hosts No. 22 Arkansas.
Here’s what ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit had to say on College GameDay from Madison, Wisconsin, ahead of Week 7 action:
On Alabama-Tennessee:
- “I think this is just round one of the SEC Championship Game. I think these teams will play again in Atlanta.”
- “I think it’s going to be a shootout. I think both teams will score points.”
- “Kamara’s a dangerous threat running and throwing. Even with Hurd back, I think we’ll see plenty of Kamara.”
- “Tennessee is going to score. Teams have thrown the ball on Alabama’s defense — twice they’ve given up 400 yards passing.”
- “I think it’s amazing to watch how Lane Kiffin continues to adjust and evolve his offense. They’re a completely different offense than they were a year ago.”
- “Don’t underestimate Lane Kiffin being back in Knoxville, but also don’t underestimate that Josh Dobbs will make plays against Alabama’s defense. This will be a shootout.”
On Arkansas-Ole Miss:
- “[Hunter] Henry’s [overtime] toss [last season] ultimately cost Ole Miss a chance to get to the SEC Championship Game.”
- “I think [Arkansas QB Austin] Allen still has a chance to make plays, but he’s going to have to outscore Ole Miss.”
- “[Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly and TE Evan Engram] are in sync and they’ll be in sync again today.”
On LSU under coach Ed Orgeron:
- “I think LSU’s on their way to turning things around a little bit.”
